It is our pleasure to invite you to the 6GEM Seminar Talk of Dr. Iwao Hosako
related to the National Institute of Information and Communication Technologies
(NICT) vision of next generation mobile communication systems.

Abstract

The evolution of mobile communication systems has been remarkable. It has evolved from communication infrastructure (1G to 3G) to living infrastructure (4G), and has become an indispensable element of our lives. The fifth generation (5G) mobile communication system has become a social infrastructure that also connects things, and its utilization is expected to progress at an accelerated pace with the promotion of the digital transformation (DX). Interactions between people, people and things, and things and things have come to have great significance in various aspects of social life. In the 2030s, the Beyond 5G/6G system is expected to fuse with cyber space and become the nerve system of society. Through the core network that supports the mobile communication system, the servers that exist on the network, and the cyberspace they create, the interaction between individuals and individuals, between people and objects, and between objects and objects will have significant meaning in various aspects of social life. Now that the 5G is being implemented in society, research and development is focusing on the Beyond 5G/6G. Referring to NICT's Beyond 5G/6G white paper, now in its second edition in March 2022, I will present our vision for the Beyond 5G/6G by considering the interaction between cyberspace and real space, which will become increasingly important, as a fusion of the two.

Biography

Iwao Hosako received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Tokyo in 1993.
