On 27 and 28 August 2026, the Chair for Distributed Signal Processing (DSP) at RWTH Aachen University hosted the ‘Workshop on Intelligent Wireless Systems for Communications, Computing and Sensing’ as part of the 6GEM+ and GEM-X projects.
The two-day workshop brought together professors, researchers, industry experts, and students from Germany, Denmark, Serbia, and the United States. It provided an international platform for presenting current research, exchanging scientific perspectives, and discussing emerging technologies for future communication networks.
The first day featured invited talks on intelligent and resilient edge systems, task-oriented communications for connected robotics, industrial wireless networks, O-RAN, and AI-assisted communication systems. The presentations addressed both theoretical advances and practical challenges and stimulated further discussion among the participants.
A highlight of the second day was the visit to the DSP laboratory. DSP researchers presented an experimental demo that will also be showcased at the Berlin 6G Conference.
The programme continued with presentations by DSP researchers on channel estimation, beam management, spectrum sharing, and RIS-assisted communication architectures. The invited guests and DSP team members actively discussed the presented methods, current research challenges, and possible directions for future work.
By combining invited talks, technical demonstrations, and direct scientific exchange, the workshop supported the objectives of 6GEM+ and strengthened international research cooperation.
