On October 7th and 8th, 2026, the 2nd 6GEM+/GEM-X General Assembly Meeting took place at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The event brought consortium partners together to review research progress, exchange expertise, and coordinate upcoming activities towards 6G.

Prof. Haris Gačanin opened the assembly with a welcome and an overview of 6GEM+ activities. Updates from the work packages provided a shared picture of progress across the consortium and established a basis for the technical discussions that followed.

Two invited presentations added complementary perspectives on wireless research and technology transfer. Prof. Hüseyin Arslan from Istanbul Medipol University explored flexible and cognitive radio access technologies and the path towards 6G. Enzo Watermann from BRYCK Startup Alliance discussed how entrepreneurship can help translate deep tech research into practical applications.

The second day focused on aligning research and planning future activities. A joint WP2/WP6 session covered the roadmap, survey results, and 6GEM+ technology clustering, as well as plans for demonstrations and workshops across the test fields. Poster sessions for WP3, WP4, and WP5 then highlighted individual research contributions. Accompanied by research speed dating, these sessions encouraged direct exchange across work packages and helped participants identify connections between their research activities.

The assembly concluded with a summary of the discussions, an exchange on partnerships and next steps, and feedback from Miruna Raceala-Motoc of the project management agency VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH.

The consortium thanks the hosts at Ruhr-Universität Bochum for organising the event and all participating partners for their contributions and continued collaboration. The next 6GEM+ General Assembly will take place in Dortmund on March 10th and 11th, 2027.
